What is an intercessor?

An Intercessor is someone who intercedes on behalf of someone else. Like a lawyer who intervenes on behalf of those who cannot act for themselves, Intercessors go to the judge (Our Heavenly Father) and plead, beg, profess, declare, petition, request, advocate, urge, and boldly defend on someone's behalf.
I submit my requests on behalf of the marketplace-the business owners who need us to petition to the judge on their behalf. Intercessory prayer is focused prayer, intended also for nations, Government, pastors, leaders, families, health, financial situations, and the marketplace. An intercessor changes the world by having an impact on the final outcome of that they are pleading for. Intercessors are history changers. They are hidden, subtle and have silent authority. They walk with the favour of God in their lives and with favour to impact and change God's heart. Intercessors definitely shake up the spiritual realm, and Satan doesn't like it. Intercessors are not timid like pussy cats, but are bold as lions.
Every person prays, but not all praying people are Intercessors. Intercessors are born again, spirit filled Christians who pray to Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Intercessors have been washed with the Blood of Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit and can speak in other tongues (heavenly language). There are many types of intercessors who have been put on earth for such a time as this. We are the watchmen, on call 24 hours, 7 days a week. Many times we are awoken from our sleep in the middle of the night to pray. We may not know what to pray about, but at those times we know to pray in our heavenly language. We have been given the job to intercede, to pray focused and deliberate prayers.
Intercessors pray for other peoples situations and circumstances and for God's mercy and grace to be upon them. We come boldly to the throne of grace with confidence and expectancy that He will hear our prayers and answer them. Prayer is our passion and we will immediately assume our roles. Intercessors may also have a strong gift of discernment and be able to discern the heart of a person. Intercessors are able to pick up on things that God allows them to see with a keen spiritual eye. An intercessor brings specific needs to God with the expectation that God will hear and answer the prayers in His timing. There are so many things that are on the mind of the Spirit. Intercessors pray them through.
Our prayers don't convince people or change a person but our prayers allow Jesus to work in their lives. Whomever we are praying for they still have to chose Christ on their own. They have free will and have to decide what they want for their life and it's up to them to do the work. Our prayers release God to do a work in them. They decide if they want to be worked on. When God starts His work on the person we are praying for they often seem to be getting worse instead of better. This is confirmation that your prayers are working and not to give up. When things seem to get worse that is when the breakthrough is coming. Our prayers are standing in the gap for those who don't know how to pray or what to pray for themselves. Prayer moves God to work and if we don't pray then God is not moved to work. Intercessors firmly believe in what they are praying and often have more faith then the people they are praying for. Prayer is a lifestyle and a way of life. Prayer is the channel to the heart of God.
A true intercessor walks in the image of Christ. In John 20:21 (NIV) Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” We are on the earth to represent Jesus. We function in Christ's authority and ability, not our own of course. He is doing the work through us. We are called to be His HANDS and FEET. We are called to be His VOICE. Jesus use us and move through us to help others. An intercessor must be full of compassion and walk in unconditional love for others.

What is the heart of an Intercessor?

Intercessors have a heart for people. Intercessors' only desire is to please God. They walk in integrity, humility and forgiveness. Intercessors are persistent and know that prayers are the most powerful weapon we have against the enemy. Intercessors have unwavering faith and know that God answers prayers.
Intercessors live by Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God". When we pray, God is present and darkness shakes. Light always overcomes darkness. By praying, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven,” we are bringing light and power to the world. This prayer alone will change the world. Imagine what it could do for your workplace and every aspect of your life. Colossians 3:17 explains, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
All effectual, fervent, passionate prayer starts with the heart. The pure untainted heart is a ripe red juicy soft enlarged heart full of pure love, peace, joy, forgiveness, power, hope, righteousness and repentance.
All things affect our heart like unforgiveness, anger, bitterness, resentment, rejection, fear, guilt, shame, misery, wrong attitudes, wrong belief systems, wrong habits and the list goes on. All of these things effect our relationship with God. They also affect our relationship with others and ourselves. All these things affect our heart by causing it to be dark instead of red, broken with holes or cracks instead of whole, a garden full of weeds with deep black roots instead of one that is full of flowers. These pictures of what the heart would look like we can't see them with the natural eye, but a heart in the spiritual realm would look like how I described it.
Intercessors have passion to pray with all their heart. They believe and have faith from the bottom of their heart and to the very core of their being. They are passionate about the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Intercessors give people a hope and a future by speaking God's truth into His people. They are encouraging and want to inspire others. They truly care about people and the well being of others.

Don't Quit, Don't Give up! Don't let Discouragement Settle In!

You are the APPLE OF GOD'S EYE and he wants us to be lifted up and not to be put down. We are the head and not the tail. We are above and not beneath.
God wants us to be strong and walk in our God given authority to do his work for his Kingdom. He doesn't want us weak, depressed, hopeless and defeated. He wants us to be strong, with our chins lifted high, to walk in boldness and strength. No matter what circumstances and situations you have been through. No matter what pain and hurts you had to overcome, just know that you are stronger because of it! The situations we deal with gives us the authority to help others. I know life is not easy, it is not nice, it is often painful and brings many tears. When we are going through the struggles it feels like we will never get to the light at the end of the tunnel. But just know there is light, your burdens are not forever. There is peace, joy, happiness, love, grace and mercy for you during your trials. Trust in the Lord, He will give you the strength to continue. We are strong through Christ, we are victorious, we are still standing and we are here to help others. The enemy will try to put thoughts of defeat, criticism, discouragement, disappointment and the list goes on and on of the MANY negative thoughts of self destruction he tries to attack us with. That is when we have to fight and war against him and say NO to Satan and tell him to get lost. We will not believe those lies of the enemy. We have to shut him down before we actually start believing those lies. We have authority over the devil and his demons and they must flee when we command him to GO in Jesus' name. Our mind, thoughts and heart need to be bound to the mind, thoughts and heart of Christ. The enemy will try to get in any way he can.

Prayer warriors are the most frightening, powerful, demon-chasing, world-moving beings on earth. In truth, they are co-creators with God! They look at astrological predictions and rebuke them. They never wonder about the future because they are too busy creating it. Prayer warriors are positioned by God to stand in faith for their families and churches and cities. Prayer is stronger than kings and mightier than armies. Prayer is the most powerful force on earth.
